The menstrual cycle is a delicate moment in the life of every woman, both physically and emotionally.
it is better to avoid asanas like deep torsions and inverted positions
Below you can find a short Yoga sequence to alleviate your menstrual pains.
Adho Mukha Svanasana
Get on all fours on the mat, bring your hands just ahead of your shoulders, inhale stretching your knees and exhale bringing your head between your arms, turning your shoulders outwards and entering the asana.
This pose is great for dissolving tension from the spine and relieving menstrual colic.
Setu Bandhasana
Lie on your back, bend both knees and place the feet flat on the floor hip width apart. Inhale and lift you buttom up, pushing your pelvis area towards the ceiling.
It relaxes the ovaries and helps menstrual regularity, improving pain.
Marjariasana + Bitilasana
Kneel on all fours and arch your lower back and torso slightly bending at the hips both sides then arch it lower again and raise your head up breathe easily in and out. The slow movement between these two asanas, allows you to massage and tone the lower abdomen, intestines and reproductive organs.
Balasana
Sit on your heels, bring your knees to the sides of the mat and stretch your back, bringing your forehead to the mat and your arms extended (they can be kept stretched over your head or along your body). Relax and surrender to this asana.
Breathe deeply and slowly, close your eyes and stay in position until you feel the need.
Supta Baddha Konasana
It helps to stretch the muscles of the pelvic area and relieves abdominal cramps. This position helps our ovaries, stimulates circulation and helps to relax the groin. Also for this position you can help with supports such as lumbar support cushions.
Lie on your back and bend your knees joining the soles of your feet. Extend your arms along your sides, bring your palms up, close your eyes and let go of this asana.
